If you're planning to cruise with little kids, my advice is to start with a short, warm-weather sailing on a ship that caters to the youngest cruisers. I cruised with a 1-year-old to Alaska on Rhapsody of the Seas, one of Royal's oldest and smallest ships, and it wasn't my best cruise by a long shot.
